Frequently Asked Questions
---------------------------
Just some quick question and answer tips
1) How do I friend my alumni friends?
You can click on "People Search" on the left hand tab of the page
and search by first or last name or other criteria
2) What are all those underlined things in my profile?
This is a powerful feature we have. Say you listed your favorite teacher
as "Mrs Goto" you can then click on "Mrs Goto" and see all other alumni
who have entered the same thing.
3) My class does not have a community what do I do?
If your class doesn't already have a community you are free to start
one and be the moderator. We are always looking for people to help.
4) How do I add friends and why should I?
If you look up a profile you can select "Add as friend" under their
picture. For those unfamiliar with the concept by adding friends they
join your "network". YOu can quickly view all your friends and by clicking
on their profile view their friends. These connections are the power
of the site as it allows you to interact with other alumni.
5) Do I need to upload a picture and what kind should that be?
No you do not need to upload a picture, but we highly recommend it. You
can also upload multiple pictures if you choose. Keep in mind pictures
will be viewable to other so please keep it clean. If you don't have
a picture we can snap a picture of you at an alumni meeting, pau hana
event or craft fair.
6) Who is Dave? Who is Global Pau Hana? Who is Peoplebridge?
I am David Komatsu from the class of 1987 and currently the President
of the Moanalua Alumni Association. It has always been a goal of myself
and the Alumni Association to create ways to help link alumni together
and this project has been my "pet project"
Global Pau Hana is a world-wide grassroots community that helps people
with an affinity to Hawaii. It began in the Bay Area to help Hawaii
people connect with each other and those back in Hawaii. I am currently
affiliated with Global Pau Hana and as such plan to have some events
linking the alumni and Global Pau Hana (they are all real nice people
even though most of them did not go to Moanalua)
Peoplebridge is a company run by the founder of Global Pau Hana and is
the maker of the software that makes our Moanalua MenePage site what it
is. They built and designed the interface and sell it to alumni, church
or other types of groups.
7) Is my personal information safe? What would it be used for?
By contract the Moanalua Alumni Association owns all information on the
site and gives Peoplebridge the right to store this data for us. We not
sell or otherwise distribute the information with the following exceptions
a) We will release name/address/phone information to reunion planning
committees for your class.
b) We reserve the right to e-mail or send postal mail for Alumni Association
use such as sending reunion information or information about homecoming
or other events.
